Wilmarc Records was designed and produced by William Cerny, a Yale University graduate and concert pianist, and now a college professor Emeritus with 40 years of professional public performing and college teaching experience:
  • 13 years on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.

  • 27 years on the faculty of the University of Notre Dame, including 9 of those years as Chairman of its Music Department.
Cerny first developed the concert series, Explorations into Piano Literature, while at Eastman through his many years of teaching Piano Literature to piano majors there. He then offered the series for presentation before college and university audiences.

An outgrowth of those concerts was his weekly series of half-hour radio programs, entitled Explorations into Piano Literature, which broadcast for years over 35 stations on National Public Radio. WSND-FM at Notre Dame continues to broadcast the series weekly on Monday evenings.

Wilmarc Records, Inc. was formed in 1998 as an educational supplement for libraries, schools, music teachers, and music listeners. From his many years of teaching Music History and Piano Literature to undergraduate and graduate music majors at Eastman and Notre Dame, along with his yearly presentation of lecture/recitals at colleges and universities, Cerny decided in the mid-1990s to make his recordings available in a commercial CD format under the Wilmarc label.

The Wilmarc Library offers a wide choice of CD selections:

1.

The complete Wilmarc Library Series (particularly attractive to libraries and educational institutions)

2.

Topical packages (also attractive to educational institutions)

3.
Individual CDs (for the private teacher and/or collector)

Wilmarc Records presents digitally mastered CDs of these radio programs, and many subsequent recordings, with multiple tracking to facilitate educational use. All performances and commentary are Cerny's own.
